Pareteum CEO Vic Bozzo Interviewed by Next Generation Communications
|
|
On November 29, 2016, Pareteum CEO, Vic Bozzo was interviewed by Paula Bernier, of Next Generation Communications, in a featured article entitled "Pareteum Helps Carriers, MVNOs Expand, Quickly Create Their Businesses" (click title to read the on-line article)
The article, as it appeared online, is presented below:
Pareteum Helps Carriers, MVNOs Expand, Quickly Create Their Businesses
Internet of Things networks provide a one-size-fits-all experience, but carriers need to offer solutions that meet the particular needs of companies in such verticals as finance. That means they should be able to partition their networks, and provide the kind of billing, CRM, and Web interfaces that customers like Goldman Sachs require. Pareteum can help carriers with all of that.
That’s the word from Vic Bozzo, who stepped in as Pareteum’s CEO about a month ago. Bozzo spoke with me earlier this month at TMC Editors’ Day in Santa Clara, Calif.
Formerly known as Elephant Talk, the recently reorganized company now called Pareteum provides mobile virtual network operators and mobile network operators with cloud-based mobile communications infrastructure, operating software, and managed services. The company doesn’t own or run the core network, said Bozzo, instead it runs an onramp to the network. He said the solution is akin to what Equinix offers. The Pareteum platform, he continued, consists of hubs with software that manage all the retail operations – from OSS/BSS, to CRM, to Web clients, to network management across all the mobile networks.
Brazilian systems integrator Cleartech, along with Vodafone and Zain, are among Pareteum’s customers. (According to a Seeking Alpha posting in August, Vodafone is Pareteum’s largest customer and the carrier last year grew its subscriber base on the company’s platform by 9 percent and expected to grow it this year by nearly 50 percent.) Pareteum also has a partnership with LTE core network platform-as-a-service provider Expeto.io.
Bozzo said before the renaming and reorganization that the company’s strategy was to sell a big software package as a managed service to just a few Vodafone-type customers. But now the company, which today serves 1.2 million subscribers, believes there’s an opportunity for it to serve tens of millions of subscribers – and that's just within its existing customer base – if it adds support for the Internet of Things and provides its customers with software so they can more easily create custom solutions for important businesses like Goldman Sachs.
