Muslim Teen Attacked on NYC Subway by White Guys Shouting 'Donald Trump'Three men in their 20s tried to rip off the teen's hijab, police say, after calling her a "terrorist" and saying, "Go back to your country."

GRAMERCY, NY — In one of the most disgusting hate crimes reported in the New York City metro area since Donald Trump was elected president, an 18-year-old Muslim woman was attacked Wednesday night in the 23rd Street subway station by a trio of white, male 20-somethings who shouted "Donald Trump!" and tried to remove her hijab, or headscarf, according to the New York City Police Department (NYPD).
The young woman was standing on the station's northbound 6 train platform around 10 p.m., police said, when she was approached by the three men.
"They ripped her purse off her shoulder, and they were shouting, 'Go back to your country' and 'You don't belong here,'" an NYPD spokesman said.
Her attackers repeatedly yelled Donald Trump's name and called her a terrorist, police said — "then tried to rip off the head wrap she had on her head." |
