I would venture to say that Intel had the option to use ActiveX or Java and they chose 100% pure Java. Unlike Microsoft, Intel is not afraid of Java and I have long claimed that Intel and IBM will make more money off Java than Sun itself. When Scott McNeally made the statement "volume production is important," in reference to Intel's mind-boggling fabrication capacity, I almost lost my lunch. It is now my firm belief that Intel will actually be making Java chips on one hand while Sun delivers Solaris for the Merced and the JavaOS on the other. BORL represents an enterprise Java play with IBM and Oracle as their key revenue sources. BTW, I have to throw in a plug for APLX again. That's another strong Java play in the OLAP and full-featured office-pack arena.
