Balance is what we find in natural beauty, whether in thought or in nature itself. Extremes produce storms of negative results and very little else that could be labeled good: Negativity based in fear, anger, and conflict which only breeds more negativity. This thread is an entertaining prime example.

Yes being open to new ideas is liberal and creative. It suggests lots of new or unique opportunities, but without a conservative reign there can be chaos and destruction in the process. We think of the advances we've made in women's rights which is great but while patting ourselves on the back, we fail to remember and observe a few things like: How men have historically suffered in their role of bread winner, now we have women in the role but ignore their suffering. We have increased the incidence of harassment and workplace abuse of women to the nth power. We have forgotten to support men as fathers, resulting in an overwhelming trend to single moms with catastrophic results.

I think liberally and discipline myself conservatively. I press for balance when considering options. Works for me.

By the way, what you are referring to as the liberal left is not liberal at all, it is dogmatic IMO.
