Emory,

Thanks. I am a little slow in understanding currencies and manipulations; (I'm not being facetious). How does a government go about devaluing its currency? I've heard of countries with hyperinflation who declare one morning, that from that time forward, one may remove x number of zeroes from the notes they hold. One thousand fecalonias from the Republic of Garbagia, for example, are now only worth ten. That I can understand.

But how is the US to make the dollar worth fewer Yen without such a formal announcement? Does the FED sell dollars in the open market to bring down the price? I think Zeev explained this to me once, but my head is thick about these matters. I'll look up his post, too.

Thanks,

Jack
