Usually it takes a few months & some digging to find out who caused "the blip" and if the blip causes upward price movement (this one didn't) the price almost always will return to it's previous trend. I screen thousands of charts daily for promising blips. I recall a wonderful blip in APSG back in Feb-96, The stock moved from $4 to $7 in one day on huge volume. But it required a lot of patience APSG didn't begin to get noticed for almost a year afterward.
APSG is now in a beautiful uptrend @$13

Another notable blip was in GMH, a month later investor's found out that AT&T had taken a stake.

More recent blips I'm following have occurred in ZOMX & EVSNF

Most of these other genomics outfits (AFFX, HGSI, MLNM, INCY, etc) have been on fire, but they are very price volatile. I have read some "glowing" research reports which no doubt have helped to fan these flames.

I hope this helps,
:-)TY
