And to give you more to consider....................................................... ..Regarding trauma P3---main target is prevention of pneumonia/ards ..pneumonia is the most common cause of infectious death in USA ..neutrophil (from which bpi derived) are the first cellular line of defense by the body against invading bacteria. Therefore, IMO if defense is defective (ANCA antibodys) then infection is more likely to result. -Also dissemination of microbes through the blood to other organs or tissures(bacteremia) doubles the mortality rate. Therfore, IMO (again) if bpi prevents pneumonia, then bpi defacto prevents bacteremia, and defacto prevents some deaths. Comments?
