Hi Mr.B,

Just read your post and I think, for those who are up on all the terminology with respect to software and hardware capabilities, your ideas are quite good; unfortunately, I'm not. My poor little 12MB 486 probably wouldn't be able to access the site if my past atempts are any indication. That being said, don't let me stand in the way of what others would like to do.

I've always heard of chess matches being conducted over the net, but was never really that curious or wanted to play a game that badly. Unlike Patrick, I still find playing the chess program which came pre-loaded with our system satisfactory. This manner is a bit of a challenge, but at least I know I'm playing against someone who is thinking out the moves and posting the next as they are made. Probably could do this by e-mail, certainly is an option that will always be available.

When I commented about having an E rating, there is a bit of an embarrassing story behind it. The only tournament I played in, before our chess club was disbanded, I managed to lose every game and still get a plaque. Felt like adding insult to injury. I was the only E rated player in the club hosted tournament so I was going to get something anyway. I would have prefered my entry fee back.

This format is fine with me. But I'll give it up if this ends up being the majority opinion. I like to play the game for fun. I've given up on the idea of becoming famous in the chess world. <ggg>

Can we interest you in challenging the winner provided there are those who would like to continue with this format?
