I have my doubts that most auto recalls can be fixed via software. I hope to never own a car where critical safety or operational systems can be modified wirelessly. Plus, the ability to fix bugs wirelessly breeds complacency in designing robust systems in the first place. Look no further that the bazillion "updates" to practically every software package to fix bugs that are a result of carelessness in design and inadequate testing before release.
