You have to think like a corporation to understand.

Air pollution has a cumulative effect. Older people die from it. You know, older people, the kind that would otherwise be drawing retirement, Social Security and using Medicare? Yeah, those older people.

Workplace injuries will kill and incapacitate slower, less agile workers, resulting in a more productive workplace.

Less older people and more workplace injuries will result in lower unemployment.

A corporate plan designed to cull the geezers will not slow population growth. Geezers don't breed. In fact, with fewer elders around, young people will become even more promiscuous and reproduce at an even higher rate.
