>>>"The more important and difficult task is figuring out how to change the culture in ways that will allow them to do the jobs of the future. In other words, if Trump really wants to get more Americans working, he’ll have to do something out of his comfort zone: make girly jobs appeal to manly men."<<<
We have managed to objectify job roles and in so doing we have created new forms of consciousness for the work force and ultimately for culture. It is now necessary (according to cultural mores) for men to lose their sense of manliness to some extent, however you define that (courageous, noble, protective, etc.) in order to transition along with the world of work. It is equally now necessary for women to lose their sense of womanliness, however you define that (sensitive, gentleness, nurturance, etc) for the same reasons.
In a very real sense then we have this conscious awareness of who we are in the historical cultural sense as an actor. We also have a consciousness about who we are as a core entity which lies in juxtaposition to our roles in the world. Self-conscious conflict arises when activity outside oneself is turned upon a core essence.

Job appeal based on sexual identity, a tough nut to crack. |
