When I was in law school I tried to give dinner parties like the ones I remembered my parents giving. I hauled out all my china, crystal, and linen. One of my guests played with his fork by sticking it through my anique table runner. Another guest spun my crystal napkin ring on his knife. They also chewed with their mouths open and talked with their mouths full. I am not an etiquette fanatic but I went to paper plates after that. What did their parents teach them at the table?
