So it isn't racism if it is against a Muslim?

If the intolerance is directed at someone's race, then it's racism aka racist bigotry. If it's directed at his religion, Muslim, then it's religious bigotry. If the Muslim in question is of another race, maybe Asian or black, could be either or both. Or it could be ethnic bigotry against Middle Easterners, ethnicity being a narrower category than race with elements of culture. There used to be a lot of ethnic bigotry in the US back before "the Irish became white." I remember wops and micks and kikes and and hunkys and japs, etc. It was prevalent in my youth. Or just undifferentiated bigotry.

Tell that to the Neanderthals.

The Neanderthals didn't have the brain capacity to conceptualize race. It wasn't until the seventeenth century that they came up with pseudo-scientific categories for "the other."
