I would give it at least one more try. Often an error might not show up on trial 2 or 3.

I'm thinking a clone is the next thing to try and that was what I did with my mom's Dell computer recently.

On my wife's laptop, I also ran out of choices, but still had the ability to use USB to an external. It took longer, but I was able to transfer Firefox and Thunderbird and all of her bookmarks and photos of fancy kitchens and decorating and important crap.

Carolyn might be able to reinstall Windows 10 on a new drive. PC mag just had an article on how to do it. You lose all software, but maybe then she can use USB to copy it over. pcworld.com
