Well, there may be several scenarios that could result from the Trump team members who are more inclined to better relations with Russia.

This decades long feud between the West and Russia hasn't done the Russians much good. She may be a Nuclear power but her infrastructure and living conditions and GDP for its population could be a lot better. And sanctions certainly haven't helped matters either ...

So, ... if there could be a much more improved and pragmatic relationship built up between the USA and Russia, then maybe that Russian aggression and mistrust of all things "West" will slowly disappear. And maybe there will be a greater coming together of Eastern and Western Europe. And maybe that NATO organization won't be as necessary as it is perceived to be today.

Maybe a new Treaty of sorts can be signed up between the USA, Western Europe and Eastern Europe resulting in a far greater and more economically powerful and relevant group of nations, resulting in an improved possibility of peace and prosperity.

And let's also not forget that the Russians and the Chinese have long glared at each other across their common border. Now if Russia is part of the above West/East alliance of nations, then that rather isolates the Chinese in terms of any of dominance in any part of the world, most particularly in its endeavours to create artificial islands and the like in foreign waters, and to continue to give tacit support to that unstable North Korean megalomaniac, etc, etc ...
