I received some info from Brenda about the future of Mytec a little while ago but have been busy over the holidays so I haven't been able to post it until now. Here are some of her answers to my questions:

"After reviewing the market, we have decided that the best opportunity for our Touchstone product is the network security access market. What this means is that potential customers will be able to replace their passwords and secure tokens and have a record of who signed on individually. Therefore, we are currently pursuing customers who have large internal networds that could make use of the Touchstone product. We have also developed software in particular for replacement of the NT logon process that will enabel the customer to more effectively use our hardware."

"Currently, our Touchstone unit is at the high end of the price range for similar units. Sony's new unit is of a similar price to ours. The market we are addressing as mentioned above, is less price sensitive per unit and since they are looking for a solution we are working on ways to reduce our costs on producing Touchstone and therefore reduce our selling price."

"We are still in discussions with Compaq however their focus has changed from Mytec's hardware to software. Compaq was looking for a price point that was well below what we could produce - they are still interested in our biometric encryption although this would be an add-on to them and therefore we are talking the later part of 1998."

The order for 150 units was with TRW and there will be a news release shortly.
