I rely on a variety of news sources from different countries and I post some of the more interesting articles here.

I've traveled and I'm not limited to just English so I think this provides more insight to the cultural biases of each of these news sources, which in turn gives me some insight on the cultural biases inherent in the news generated in my own country of America.

I also have to ask how primary a news source is. Is that journalist or writer likely to have experienced what they're talking about?

When I saw a press packet I had written for a project I was obtaining approval for published verbatim as "news" on the front page of the newspaper in Stockton CaIifornia - I had no greater awakening. The journalist whose byline claimed to be the author had admittedly added two sentences of comments from people opposed to this project, but all of the rest was mine. This startled me at the age of 25 because while I was not a PR person nor a journalist - apparently the reporter wasn't either.

Press releases which become news without further input from other sources is far more typical in a small market like Stockton than it is in Los Angeles, New York, Sydney or Berlin - but it's still the most frequent starting point of that news even though it's reported differently. So you have to instinctively ask whose press release or press conference generated this news, which is usually obvious when you reflect on it. And I need to find perspectives on that issue from some other primary source.
