| | | Steve Deace’s ‘A Nefarious Plot’ to become major motion picture

A film adaptation of Conservative Review contributor Steve Deace’s book “A Nefarious Plot” is now in development.
Deace made the announcement on his nationally syndicated radio show Monday evening. The team that made the box-office smash hit “God’s Not Dead,” will be producing the film with an eye for a 2018 release.
Deace told Conservative Review he felt “surreal” over the prospect of a film adaptation of his work, and that it was “just really cool and weird for a kid from Iowa at the same time.”
“Less than one percent of books get developed into movies, and that includes some really good books that have sold many more copies than mine did,” Deace said.
In “A Nefarious Plot,” a demon general from Hell named Lord Nefarious describes in gruesome detail why he was tasked by his master, the Devil, with destroying the United States of America, and how he accomplishes his task.
Book Review: A Nefarious Plot
Through the power of allegory, Deace acutely describes how America has reached its current, less-than-great state. As CR’s Nate Madden wrote in his review of the book:
Equal parts “The Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire,” “The Screwtape Letters,” and “Goldfinger,” Deace’s book delivers an almost-post-American autopsy of our shining city on a hill. From the welfare state to the secularization of the public square, Deace outlines a decades-long plot to dissolve the safeguards of the American Republic, security, sovereignty and society, so insidious that only Lucifer himself could have signed off on it. Even more chilling is that the game has been afoot under our noses all this time, and Deace has the stats to prove it.
Deace’s analysis--through his demonic surrogate, Lord Nefarious--cuts right to the heart of every major crisis currently faced by the United States, and cleverly outlines them as such: decadence, debt, dunces, decay, despair, death and finally, defeat.
“This book will make you squirm, make you think, and also make you laugh until you realize the joke is on us and future generations,” said Conservative Review Editor-in-Chief Mark Levin.
Steve Deace said he feels confident that the story, which was written in the style of C.S. Lewis’ “Screwtape Letters,” will translate well to film. “We've had some early story conversations that I'm excited about. Of course, I'm not going to share any of those!” he told CR.
While you’re waiting for the film’s release in 2018, be sure to read Deace’s book for yourself. “ A Nefarious Plot” is available from Post Hill Press at Amazon.com.
