I drive to Snowbird, Utah every year around late January to early March for our winter timeshare at the Cliff. So I get to know that road and where the HP tend to hangout. Watch out a little West of and probably East of Winnemucca, also between Battle Mountain and Carlin, any where near Elko (major speed trap on 80) and over the first pass going East out of Wells. I love the Utah stretch cuz its a legal 80MPH all the way from Wendover to near Salt Lake. I also like to drive the 50 route to Wolf Creek Pass, CO. Talk about a quiet road, once past Fallon its empty to Ely, there are two small towns in between but nothing to worry about there. Watch out for eagles, antelope and elk though and of course wild horses. lots of nature along the way.

Last couple of years we have driven on to Steamboat and took in Dinosaur National Monument near the Utah Colorado border, quite and interesting place.
