Trump's supporters are not in on the joke, they're merely unsuccessful people looking for a break in life as Reagan's tax scheme leaves them falling hopelessly behind wealthier Americans.

What they've actually voted into place is a tax increase on people like themselves, coupled with a big cut in their retirement benefits from Medicare and Social Security. They'll be asking themselves why they bothered to come in to vote for the vulgarian.
