My daughter aka Experiment is studying International Relations.

I preferred her to study something technical or related to food and agriculturals but it is her life not mine.

I have had some Whatsapp discussions with her, she seems to have grown a brain lately :-)

The Freedom Rock seems not foment their own system of Freedom to Mainlanders but loves the Unfreedom Mainland for the money sake but are in a tight corner.

HK served the purpose of teaching mainland the ropes while Mainland was growing. Now Mainland does not need HK anymore. HK is now expendable.

I would need to teach HK to go Honk Kong 2.0 as China is going China Light.

Mainland China needs to get sophisticated not only in the propaganda materials but on essence.

But TJ once told me, and I was shocked, Chinese always try by themselves and only ask for help as they fail.

Another discussion I pointed to a senior executive that the company was not keeping its experienced managers, and was always bringing new ones, this lack of continuity was hampering their business.

He told, our culture does not depend on the individual. I expected a Smiley to follow. No! He was talking serious.

Chinese need to shed their culture but it is impossible. Witness western educated TJ how tough it is to change his mind and make him see reality. Now how tough it is going to be to change the mindset of the politburo in Beijing?

I write this because I saw Siemens implementing Kultur Wandel. It was promoted by their top management to change the internal culture. They failed.

I was once talking with a Siemens senior manager and he said as his kids become 7 he would return to Germany for schooling. I said, but here in Jakarta there is Deutsche Schule and parents enroll their children here as the curriculum is the same and are accredited by German Min of Education.

He said no! I want my kids to learn the German language spoken by their grandfathers.
Me shocked again.

Thus a country, or a major enterprise, progress as far as its culture allows.
