Elections have consequences. It's sad that these people may suffer, but they certainly deserve to suffer since they voted for the person who clearly told them what he was going to do. I'm not sure it matters why they voted to hurt themselves. I think it was the demagoguery, rather than the issues, that captured them. Trump, like most demagogues, felt his way into capturing the zeitgeist of the disaffection of white angry voters. I don't think he planned it- but he was pretty good at bomb throwing, and feeling his way to the center of their anger. I get they were blinded by their appreciation of his nod to their anger, but I can't feel sorry for people who vote for their own destruction. I do feel sorry for people caught in areas like this who voted for the other candidate- they must be pretty pissed off. It will be interesting to see how this resolves itself.
