We buy our MREs from American military commissaries.
We are reasonably confident they have been properly stored there.
If they are properly stored, American MREs should be edible and nutritious for 25 years.

We also buy freeze dried rice, beans, potatoes, veggies, fruit etc., and numerous other food items from Emergency Essentials, COSTCO, and Sam's Club/WalMart on-line.
They too have an estimated shelf life of 25 years.
