>> When I see the Russian/Trump connection I'm at least mildly curious as to what might be behind the scenes. You don't seem to have any curiosity at all on the subject.
Actually, if there were any evidence of anything that bothered me I would probably be curious about it. I'm not of the opinion that name-calling Putin is productive. I believe Trump has a cogent approach to dealing with Russia.
It is not, to me, like Obama wanting to deal with Iran. Obama was a rank amateur, Iran was a stated enemy. While the old-time cold warriors feel that we're bitter enemies with Russia, competent handling of the relationship is likely to make a difference (as it did with Reagan). Iran didn't respect Obama; Russia doesn't respect Obama. Putin respects Trump, imo, and will see him as a worthy representative.
As of right now, I think Trump has something to build on. I would be surprised if Putin pulled any crap with Trump because he knows Trump isn't a weak-kneed amateur like Obama is. And I would imagine the two of them will look for ways that contribute to meeting the objectives of each.
This, of course, is distantly removed from whether Melania was engaged in porn. I've never made a big deal of First Ladies, but I see her similarly to Michelle Obama or Laura Bush or any of the others.
One place where I *think* Melania might be different is that she doesn't seem enthralled with the trappings of the White House. And neither does Donald Trump himself. It is just a formality.
These people are far more down to Earth, imo, than the elitists we've seen in the White House for as long as I remember. The news article today about Ivanka Trump and her kids flying on JetBlue today sort of tell that story, IMO. (The liberal who harassed her actually said, "What are you doing flying on commercial airlines, ANYWAY?) |
