I don't pretend to speak for anyone else, but I think Original Intent in places is totally stupid. For some time the greatest threat to our country has been cyber warfare. Our Constitution could not have conceived of such a threat, so it had to be flexible enough to deal with it. At the same time, the Bill of Rights is precious and has to be taken more literally (unfortunately, the courts have eaten away at it for decades).

There is an amendment process and until such time as the people are able to come together on amendments it is what it is.

We aren't children and we can understand we don't always get our ways. It may be another 100 years before an amendment is made, who knows. It is a good, stable, proven system and I would hate to see it screwed up.
