I was raised in a fundamentalist church, so I'm well aware of the issues and techniques. Part of why I see this as a big issue is nearly all of my fundamentalist relatives and friends apply the same nonsense to issues like climate change/science. In fact you can see a prominent example of this in a guy named Roy Spencer. He runs the Univ. of Alabama Huntsville satellite temp mapping program for NASA, and is one of a small number of prominent climate change denialists. He is also a young earth creationist. What a shock.
