>>>Are there any price differences in, say Quake for PC and Quake for Playstation?<<

Not sure if there is a Quake for the PSX but there is a Quake 64 for the N64. Nintendo Games usually cost more.

>>I guess MXi could be a vehicle for a new player to enter the market. The loads of existing software would be e definite advantage over Playstation / Nintendo.<<

The PSX and N64 will always have a hardware advantage over the PC.
You only need a TV and not much in the way of a speedy HD or lots of
DRAM, a fast 3D card, and a speed uP. PCs will still have their own niche as a multi purpose tool, applicable to Games, home accounting, internet access, etc...

>> Is Sega still in business?<<
YES, they are working on a new console call the Dureal or Katana. uP SH-4 by Hitachi, O/S by MSFT and 3D video PowerVR by NEC. Using the OS by MSFT was mentioned to allow easier porting of games to and from the PC to the Dureal.
