TOKYO, Jan 5 (Reuters) - Japan Telecom Co Ltd on
Monday denied a newspaper report which said it had decided on a
broad tie-up with Global One, an alliance of major telecom
carriers Deutsche Telekom AG , France Telecom
and Sprint Corp of the United States.
Japanese mass-circulation daily Yomiuri Shimbun said in its
Monday edition that Japan Telecom and Global One were discussing
setting up an equally owned telecom joint venture in Japan.
"We have not decided anything of that sort," said a Japan
Telecom spokesman.
But he added: "We have a number of possible partners in the
international arena, and Global One is one of them."
Japan Telecom was created through a merger in October last
year of Japan Telecom Co Ltd, Japan's third-biggest
long-distance carrier, and overseas carrier International
Telecom Japan Inc (ITJ).
