Well, here are the facts.

CBO, under both the current director and under Doug Elmendorf, has stated to Congress that our current deficit trajectory is "unsustainable." This position first appeared after the Obama deficits, slated to begin in a couple years, and to continue into perpetuity, became apparent.

CBO has explained that these deficits are unsustainable for specifically the following reasons:

- Social Security
- Medicare
- Medicaid (including the Obamacare expansion)
- Interest on the National Debt

These are the ONLY causes of the unsustainable deficit. In fact, Elmendorf testified that the remainder of the budget actually serves to REDUCE the growth in the deficit in the out-years; that is, other discretionary and military spending will actually grow at a reduced rate such that the effect is to decrease the overall deficit from where it is now.

The point is that the untenable nature of our deficits going forward are a direct result of the above programs and items. Not anything else.

Now, these are the facts. You can look them up on the CBO director's blog if you wish. The Democrats created every one of these programs; they imposed a massive expansion of Medicaid without as much as one Republican vote; they have made no effort to solve any of these problems (you may remember GWB trying to partially privatize SS which would have significantly reduced the current shortfall). You always want to raise taxes which is destructive to the economy and at best a temporary patch for a huge leak.

It is time for the Left to take responsibility for its fiscal idiocy. Eight years of Obama has left the country in a terrible place. Only a strong president like Trump can solve these problems. I hope he will.
