I agree with you about not needing to pass laws to solve these problems. It seems to me an issue of common courtesy. For instance, I find it very rude when someone lights up while I'm still eating or in a very enclosed space, but I will try to tolerate some smoke and not complain.
Again, it's thoughtfulness. No one in a choir should ever wear perfume. Many people (I'm one) have some kind of reaction to certain scents- not bad enough to make me sick, but enough to cause a problem singing. Singers are NEUROTIC. But they have to be. I certainly wouldn't complain about the strong odor in a department store.

Dan wants to know where you got that information about airline air--to his knowledge there have been no changes in the recycling procedures on board.
