Look on the bright side. Rome reached new heights after the fall of the Republic.

The ones in power at the moment won't last. The Mango Mussolini isn't really interested in the power in and of itself. He is just interested in how he can monetize the office. Congress is full of people who won't last when a real strongman or junta seizes power.

Me, I am betting on enough chaos where the military has little choice but to do something. It will be interesting to see who they imprison first.
