I understand that way of looking at it. It's how my kids view things. My position was/is that I will always vote my conscience and it has to go for someone who I believe would try to lead by the scout virtues. I have abstained before but usually try to find someone close to that. I realize my choices never have a chance, but I feel ok with that. Voting my conscience is meaningful to me but I know it doesn't translate to others that way. As a side benefit I also get to say, "Hey, don't blame me, I didn't vote for the (expletive)." I would feel fine saying that about either of those two.
