Natural gas must be looking at the latest ensemble forecasts. The developing ridges over Alaska and south of Greenland are going to block the cold air into the continental U.S. Wow! Anything red/pink is below freezing.

This is the forecast for end of first week of the new year. There's an inland nor'easter coming in the meantime. The jet stream will be aligned for the developing glacier over the NE U.S. in the next month.
