The problem is, the Right has their own, parallel media now. It started with talk radio. Then Fox and now the Internet. That media pushes the idea that those to the left of them are evil and not quite human. Maybe not as bad as Muslims, but... When you are in a struggle to the death, there are no rules. The Democrats are still pretending the only difference between the Left and the Right is ideology. That we are engaged in a struggle of ideas. And that it is possible to reason with the other side.
