Microsoft is rumoured to be working on a new Game Mode for Windows 10Windows 10 will reportedly feature a new Game Mode in future updates.

A new resource – dubbed "gamemode.dll" – has been unearthed within the latest Windows 10 developer build, a new report from renown leaker Twitter user @h0x0d.

The feature reportedly lets Windows 10 adjust CPU and GPU resources when users are playing a video game – allocating more power for the game, rather than towards any apps running the background.

This new move essentially allows your Windows 10 PC to act more like a home console.

By allocating the majority of its computational power towards running games, it enables you desktop PC to micmic the function of a sole purpose video game device, like Microsoft's own Xbox One. If Game Mode rolls-out in a future update to Windows 10, it is a clear indication Microsoft is taking PC gaming seriously with its latest operating system.

Windows 10 Anniversary Update rolled-out on August 2nd, bringing new features to Cortana, improvements to the redesigned Start Menu and Live Tiles

The US technology company has already taken a number of significant strides to blur the line between its dedicated game console and multi-purpose Windows 10 devices.

For example, Xbox One consoles now run a variation of Windows 10 and games offer cross-purchasing options from Xbox One to your PC.

The discovery of the gamemode.dll file hints that this cross-pollination is set to continue well into 2017.

Microsoft has not confirmed the existence of the new Game Mode.
