anyone who saw the TV and print media coverage of the presidential campaigns cannot possibly have missed the extreme liberal base in the media. We actually had members of the media calling for stepped up efforts to defeat Trump. Unprecedented in our lifetimes.

I agree with your second sentence. But I take issue with the first. It's hard to tease out all the various threads but everything pointed to the unprecedented change you mention not being liberal bias but horror over Trump. At the time the shift occurred Trump was more liberal than any of his GOP competitors--back before he got the nomination--yet the media singled him out. Also, his fiercest calls came from Republicans. I had subscriptions to the National Review and Weekly Standard to prove it. You can't attribute that to liberal ideology.
