A really old link about LU getting into data networking. Here's a very old article (March, 97) from the NYT entitled "Lucent to Enter the Field of Data Networking". I just thought it was interesting to reread the mindset on LU's plan's back then. It's amazing how little seems to have changed -- except that they can't lust after Cascade as a separate entity w/o Ascend. search.nytimes.com -John Dodson
