The country is basically conservative outside of the Northeast, Far West and Illinois. Excuse me if I forgot the great state of New Mexico.
Donald Trump won the election in spite of being a bigot of the highest order. That should tell you something about many of our fellow citizens.
Hillary Clinton inspired no one. Yet the DNC was rigged on her behalf.
The question I would like to see raised on this thread rather than playing the political game of putting down one party over another, is to try to figure out what went wrong.
I, for one, have always been critical of the Democratic Party because I never felt they offered a true alternative to the Republican Party. Bernie Sanders represented a breadth of fresh air, someone who was truely different. Bernie offered a real liberal, progressive alternative. Obama was way too conservative for me. He had a bloated military budget and he did not provide affordable health care for the middle class. I felt Obama and Hillary were disasters. Now I voted for Hillary only because I wanted a more moderate Supreme Court.
The Democrats got what they deserved because they offered up crap in the form of Hillary Clinton.
The Republicans keep on moving further to the Right, but the Democrats keep on struggling to nominate someone truly to the Left.
When will they learn? Is there a true Leftist out there who can run for President (outside of Sanders) and capture the heart of the American people? There is a path out there for the Left to finally win a Presidential election, Congress and the Senate. What we need is a great communicator, similar to Reagan, who can capture the blue collar vote in America, along with the minority vote and millenials.
The Democratic Party needs to be taken over by the Left and put the Obamas, Clintons out to pasture. Bernie Sanders showed it was possible to win. Now we just need to execute and find the right candidate.

The Democratic party is stale and uneventful; it is largely made up of bureaucrats who don't give a chit about the regular guy.
