The moral and philosophical basis is that at some point a fetus becomes close enough to being a baby that the baby takes on rights such that it needs for the state to protect it.

Practically, though, babies can be born at earlier stages and survive. It makes it difficult for large numbers of society to rationalize the taking of a life for convenience.

I am pro choice but 20 weeks and that is it. Even a 10 year old can understand that rule. If you want an abortion you get befor 20 weeks. Otherwise you're gonna be a mommy. When the push for partial birth the lose me and I think a lot of others.
