Barry,

I have been considering whether to go ISDN, satellite or cable modem for upgrading my present (regular modem/phone line) internet trading and realtime quote system.
I eliminated satellite since the increased speed was only in receiving and not sending information over the net. The cost structure for the phone company's ISDN line had no flat rate unlimited usage plans. Neither did any of the internet Service Providers I investigated have flat rate unlimited usage plans. With average startup cost $550 (installation and ISDN adapter) and $60 per month fo 200 hr + $.01 a minute over 200 hrs just for the ISDN line. Add to that the average cost of $20 per month for only 25 hours of internet. I eliminated ISDN at this point.

The cable modem route is looking better to me at this point. The $39.95/month price you mention in your post, is that a flat rate for unlimited usage? What is the speed of your connection? Do you have any idea how it performs on heavy volume trading days? Are you pleased with your service? What are some of the tradeoffs or drawbacks? Thanks in advance for any comments.

Live Long and Prosper,
4-Bob
