Will I have found the same thing. I am trying to follow the news more for ideas now. For example, If I read something in Barron's I look at it from a couple ways.. Is stock XYZ a good idea? If not, is the industry a good idea? Are there related companies that are good values like is a supplier of stock XYZ a good idea? What if Barron's is wrong, is this a short idea?

I agree that good ideas could be excluded, and I like looking though the news this way. It also presents a good opportunity for reading financial statements and SEC filings in various industries.

As far as time spent goes, I am roughly the same. I spend about an hour a day reading or posting on SI. I spend anywhere from 1.5 - 4 hours reading investing books. I am currently reading Security Analysis (6th edition). At first I wasn't sure if I wanted to read it, but I am glad I did. The theories and ideas are fantastic and are helping me "bring it all together".

I have also spent a good amount of time working on a DCF model. I think I finally found a set up that I like and I am putting some final touches on everything now.

As far as music goes, I prefer electronic music or rap when I want to change it up. Sometimes I will stream a show on netflix that I have already seen 100 times.
