Outlook for January with regard to solar activity is posted below. We're entering a coronal hole now.

High wind solar streams spin lows out west. It'll look like a car revving a tire in place before it takes off...over the souther Rockies, which opens the portal for flow from the Pacific (atmospheric river).

High pressure dropping out of Canada + atmospheric river off Pacific + low pressure dropping down west coast = shit loads of rain/snow in Sierras. 20-feet plus in some locations in the next week. An incredible amount all over the west coast. It's the benefit of a dissipating El Nino mixing with cooling air...moisture gets squeezed out. This is a natural cooling process. Anomalously warm ocean water get convected, cooled, and falls as snow over mountains.
