Stratosphere can't cool forever. It's beginning to warm. The black line needs to spike about 50-degrees to get the polar vortex cranking. This is one feature.

While I keep an eye on this plot, weather can still occur. And this is dependent on the shape of the stratospheric polar vortex. That shape favors cold air outbreaks over the east coast U.S. As I've said before, by the end of January, people will be talking about the growing glacier on the U.S. east coast.

No persistence, though. I see variability on east and west coast.
