Rights inure to being a person in this world. Who says, where they come from, I have no idea.... Are you denying that rights exist at all?

You apparently have not been reading my posts on inalienable, natural rights. I agree that we persons have them. And some of them are actually codified by our government and enforced.

But, perhaps you can explain how a 20 week fetus gets to be a person prior to being born, at which point at least the codified rights attach. Because it's bornable?

That individual's right to try to survive does supersede any other individual's right to be fully equipped to deal with having a child, in my opinion.

I wasn't suggesting that there is a right to be equipped to deal with motherhood. That' a positive right. Perish the thought. I was suggesting that there is a right to be left alone, a negative right to not be aggressed--in this case forced to reproduce or serve as a mommy. If someone aggresses you in the street they go to jail. But somehow it's OK to aggress a pregnant woman by pushing her to continue a medical condition, then into mommyhood?

Maybe it feels like a bullshit answer to you but I do think rights accrue to fetuses before they're born sometimes.

Not a bullshit answer, but not a complete one, either. "But I do think" isn't an answer, it's a restatement of one's opinion. I'm trying to glean what might support that opinion. Of course, you're entitled to your opinion, even if unsupported, but supported is a better quality opinion and a more useful one.

They're hard decisions and I have plenty of others to deal with. But people who have to make them will do so.

I'm cool with that. I'm fine with anyone thinking it's immoral to abort at 20 weeks so no doing it. I'm fine with your friends' daughter doing whatever they think best.

I have an issue with forcing a woman to continue a pregnancy she doesn't want. If that's not what you're advocating, we're cool.
