Well, I was young, wanted to know everything, and went on - until I did fall asleep. The one comment I always recall: "The Leader (Führer) should be given full and unlimited responsibility for leading the state - and this with full responsibility, ultimately with his life as collateral, for the goods or worse of his people and nation." Something like this, in it's extremes, it balances the weight, for good or for bad, to both sides.
Well, he lost the war, period.
Churchill was on the winning side, having read about Dresden, the circumstances around the bombardment and other stuff, I don't believe he was much better. This comment of course leaving the AH annihilation of the European Jews out of the equation. |
