Yeah, odd lots were even worse. I wouldn't even consider them. Even with 100 shares, it took $5 on a round trip just to cover the brokerage costs.

OT: Memory Lane:

I do remember the first (and only) stock I bought at those commission rates. It was Chrysler, which I bought at 24 and sold nine months later for 36. Despite that outcome, I remember quite clearly thinking at the time that I was NOT a genius--just a little good, and lucky. Although it doesn't sound like much, multiply that profit by 6-7 to put it into today's dollars. I was in school at the time and living frugally. That was enough to keep my bills paid for nearly a year and a half--although I saved the proceeds. :-))
