A Gallup poll seemed to put a damper on Donald Trump´s presidency before he´s even sworn in, with fewer than half the public saying he´s up to the job of being president. At least, that´s how the results are being reported. But a closer look at the data tells a much different story. The Gallup results got huge pickup in the press, with most running headlines along the lines of "Most Americans Don´t Think Donald Trump Can Handle Being President." Gallup itself, it's worth noting, was more careful in its headline about Trump than most news reports were, saying only that "Many in U.S. Skeptical Trump Can Handle Presidential Duties."

So, despite what the headlines claim, the only thing this Gallup survey shows is that Democrats truly loathe Trump. But we already knew that.
