Jozef, I think the reason Cyrix has yet to commit to designing their processors to interface to slot1 (assuming they have the legal right to do so) is that the bus interface is so different it would take a major redesign across the board. The out of order issue and completion of memory and I/O requests is so alien to the x86 bus design and processors built around it, that it would not be simply a drop in replacement of the bus interface unit. Is Cyrix ready to make this kind of a major architectural change? Do they want to contiune to support socket 7 as well? Do they have the resources to support 2 seperate design efforts? Should they spend the resources and then face the possible legal battles with Intel? I don't have the answers but you can bet that Cyrix/NSM has to consider these questions.
