Christine,

Nicotine patches versus gum is a HIGHLY subjective issue. The nicotine from the patches does NOT always course through the system, "providing nicotine and calming" for all. Please also consider that among the many brands of nicotine patches and their various methods of nicotine delivery, results can vary.

For me to say anymore on this subject would be the equivalent of practicing medicine without a license, so I shall leave it to others who are reading this thread to decide for themselves, preferably with guidance from their personal physician, what course of nicotine cessation would best suit them.

I am 1000% positive that Nicorette gum was not available prior to 1984. There were other so-called nicotine gum products which contained minuscule amounts of nicotine, but they were not Nicorette and none achieved any degree of recognition.
