Okay now it's my turn to ask for some feedback on the issue of SSD replacing a hard drive.

As indicated I have lots of experience doing this on Windows computers, but my daughter has an older Mac Pro8.2 portable to which I would like to change the hard drive to an SSD. I reviewed a number of videos on YouTube which suggests this is as easy to do as on a Windows machine.

Succinctly it appears the cheapest way to do this is to first of all do a backup with Time Machine of your current hard drive, download "super duper" program which is a freeware Macintosh cloning software, use super duper to clone the Mac hard drive onto the empty SSD, then carry out the hardware exchange of the SSD for the hard drive which the video showed to be quite simple and that's all there is to it.

My question for the group here would focus on the software issues and cloning process as I've described it, remembering I am a very neophyte Mac person, but a well experienced Windows person, is are there any gotchas in the process as I described?
